Goodnight Mommy

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie and this is my new blog I just started. I concider myself an avid movie watcher and I decided I would want to talk about movies I've seen and what my opinions are about them. So my first movie I would like to talk about tonight is actually a foreign film; I wasn't aware it was until I rented it. The movie is called "Goodnight Mommy". It is a German film. The movie was directed by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. The movie has only 3 main characters, and maybe 2 or 3 side characters that are only seen one or two times. The movie stars Susanne Wuest as the mother and her twin boys who are played by Elias Schwarz and his brother Lukas Schwarz. This movie is listed under the genre of thriller and I definitely believe that is correct placement. I'll set the scene for you without any spoilers. The plot of the movie is about a young mother, recently separated from her husband and also involved in a horrific car crash. Once the mother returns home to her sons, the boys begin to wonder if this is their mother or someone pretending to be. That may sound strange but to two 10 or 11 year olds it isn't too far fetched. Their mothers face is completely bandaged besides her eyes and mouth making it very hard to distinguish her features and they notice her attitude and way she treats them is different to what their mother would be like. They start doing different things to try and find out if in fact this is their real mother. The film is a little slow to start in the beginning but I promise it is worth it. After I watched the movie I was left with feelings of confusion and also sadness. The acting was very good by both the boys and mother and the environment the movie created was extremely good. The entire movie had a very uncomfortable vibe to it and a undertone of creepy. I will say I did enjoy this movie, although the image of the mother in her bandage face did haunt my dreams that night. The movie does involve blood and is a little gorey but not too bad. I believe the rating is R. I for sure suggest this movie to anyone who likes these types of creepy movies. Like I stated before, the movie is in German so you may have to watch it with subtitles. All in all, I belive this movie was 8/10 on the creepy meter. So guys that's it for me tonight.
